Thông tin thêm về Đặng Thai Mai: Ông là người quê làng Lương Điền, Thanh Chương, Nghệ An, xuất thân trong gia đình Nho học có truyền thống khoa bảng. Ông từng giữ nhiều chức vụ quan trọng như Bộ trưởng Bộ Giáo dục, Hiệu trưởng Trường Đại học Văn khoa, Viện trưởng đầu tiên của Viện Văn học Việt Nam. Ông được tặng thưởng Huân chương Hồ Chí Minh và Giải thưởng Hồ Chí Minh. Ông là cha vợ của Đại tướng Võ Nguyên Giáp, Trung tướng Phạm Hồng Cư và Trung tướng Phạm Hồng Sơn.
