Huỳnh Thị Bảo Hòa chính là người phụ nữ Việt Nam đầu tiên sử dụng chữ Quốc ngữ để viết tiểu thuyết. Đó là bộ tiểu thuyết "Tây phương mỹ nhơn" được viết xong vào năm 1927, gồm hai tập được in tại nhà in Bảo Tồn (36 Bis Boulevard Bonnard - Sài Gòn) cũng trong năm 1972 với khổ sách 14 x 20 cm.
