***Về tác giả: Nhà văn Trần Thanh Giao sinh ngày 19-5-1932, quê quán ở Thới Long, Ô Môn, Cần Thơ. Ông còn có các bút danh khác như Song Thanh, Song Văn… Ông tham gia kháng chiến chống Pháp từ 1946, làm liên lạc cho báo Kèn gọi lính của Ủy ban Kháng chiến hành chính Nam bộ; sau phong trào Trần Văn Ơn, ông vào chiến khu làm cán bộ nghiệp vụ báo Độc lập Nam bộ. Năm 1954, ông tập kết ra Bắc làm công nhân Nhà in báo Nhân dân; từ 1961 làm phóng viên báo Nhân dân; từ 1969 làm trong Lực lượng sáng tác Văn học công nhân của Tổng Công đoàn VN và làm biên tập viên Nhà xuất bản Lao động.
